I've Seen the Light: Screenshot-Worthy Pieces That Stopped Me Mid-Scroll
and some that were super cute and irresistibly priced
Lighten Up
No more heavy talk in the free section. This will be a bottom heavy newsletter now. You may find something enlightening past the paywall. But up here I’m going to keep it light and playful or at least clean and straightforward.
To be totally literal, I will start off this one talking about going a lighter shade of blonde and then a round up of super wowza or perfectly basic pieces in - surprise, surprise - cream and white. Then some news I kinda wanna keep on the DL but I’m impulsive, so you’ll see.
Last week you voted on a scale of ‘honey’ to ‘icy’ how blonde I should go and the consensus was to take my dishwater roots and my golden ends into a baby blonde (but not platinum) realm. I haven’t bleached my hair for a decade but it’s coming in mousier than ever and my Leo moon ain’t having it. Wish me luck.
And now some pieces I will be adding to my wardrobe, wishing I could add to my wardrobe, and would love to see you add to your wardrobe so I can manifest a world that is a sartorial sight for sore eyes. These are screenshot-worthy pieces that stopped me mid-scroll, but I’d love to be stopped in my tracks when I see you wearing these on the street.
Let There Be Light
No, I don’t have a God complex. I swear I’m not trying to create you in my own image, buuuut…you and me both would look soooooo good in these things!
These Tigra Tigra pants.
These J.Kim flower pants.
These Stacey Nishimoto 8 pm earrings. Damn Stacey, why are you so cool!
This Rachel Comey midi dress. I love it styled with the wide shaft knee boot.
This Issey Miyake Thicker Bottoms skirt as a less sheer alternative to this one I wore all last summer. A bit naughty.
I’m as into cream and white bags as I am into cream and white skirts. Not into conspicuous logos, but this Marni is a-okay.
This beautiful bag is under $300 and I can tell from the photos it has zero annoying design flaws. Easy in, easy out. Nice size. Strap length is smart Tucks under the arm perfectly. Won’t flop over. Can hold a lot including a book or journal. It’s leather. I need to try it out!
It’s about time I get this Jil Sanders sandal. I’ve been lusting after some version of these for about 5 years now. I was very very irresponsible and ordered the black boot version. I pray I hate them, send them back and put that $$$ right back in my bank account.
I need this whole Rejina Pyo look. I want it. I love it. I need an occasion to wear it. Do you have one? The skirt and jacket are available for pre-order. The head scarf is in stock. I still treasure every Rejina Pyo piece I own. I even got a more than decent price-per-wear out of her $400 crochet bikini top last summer.
If you just gotta have a pale blazer with a nipped waist and big shell buttons today, this Rodebjer canvas jacket is available now it is also oh-so special.
And finally I could just die over this embroidered quilted skirt.
These are on the way.
These linen trousers and this top from Aligne. How cool is this casting btw!
I discovered Aligne while searching for a worthy yet affordable replacement for my most asked about (and sold out) white cotton maxi skirt which I’ve worn to bits. I think I’ve found one. It is also on the way and I have really high hopes.
There was a time I loved Uniqlo U so much that their drops would be the one and only thing that would get me to step foot in the Beverly Center. I haven’t been as bonkers over it for a few seasons. But I do love the basics and got an email that there was a price drop on this parachute skirt. So for $30 bucks, I nabbed one and I am sure I will love it for a long, long time like all my U stuff. Told ya I’m into white skirts.
Illumination
I will be working from a new office / studio space soon and have furnishings on the brain. I was going to save furniture talk for next time, but I cannot resist the opportunity to go full cheese ball with my word play theme here and tip you off to these new lighting arrivals at Elementi, a gorgeous vintage furniture (and clothing) shop in Pasadena.

Now, Your Homework Assignment… But First, Your Tuition
I was once asked by a start up brand’s potential investor at a dinner party (where I was maybe supposed to be trying to impress him) why I was on Substack when it was for journalists and why I write about shopping when we have AI for that. My answer was….
