Sis' Six: What I'm Wearing, Reading, Streaming, Dreaming & Drinking,
1 - Maui - When I got the opportunity to travel to Maui to assist my in-laws, I took the chance to make it a beauty and wellness retreat, and whatever the self-employed version of a mini work sabbatical would be — an excuse for me to be a workaholic on vacation, I suppose. I’ll surely spend the time working on myself, inside and out, both literally and figuratively. I packed more supplements, books, notepads, and anti-aging devices than clothes. For the literal insides I brought: Biologica Postmenopause Essentials, Perelel Perimenopause Support Pack, Armra Colostrum, and Fullwell Collagen Peptides (all in handy travel packs). I’m also taking Fullwell probiotic after a round of oral antibiotics I’ve been taking to treat a little bout of perioral dermatitis.

For the literal outside, I plan to use my two favorite devices daily - Ziip Halo microcurrent device for my upper face and PMD Lifting Massage Band for my lower face (this time I’ll remember to follow the instructions and wash it between uses like a good girl so I don’t end up with another rash).
To make packing my carry-on as hang-loose as possible, I wanted to bring my CLE Vitamin C Elixir and Ceramide serum, but I’m weird about packing glass, so I decided to only pack a serum/moisturizer duo that Lazy Skincare sent me to try.
For the figurative inside, I’m continuing to work with my shadow, unconscious, and complexes under the guidance of a Jungian mentor and institution (an educational one), keeping a dream journal, doing active dialogue, and attending online lectures. I’m also reading Existential Kink by Carolyn Elliot, Phd to learn to get off on all the things in my life that I claim to be unhappy with. I’ll start reading Caitlyn V (of HBO’s Good Sex)’s book Harder, Better, Longer, Stronger, which will be a great resource for coaching male clients.
I guess the figurative outside would be the reflections I’m doing on personae in this work with the Jungians. Which circles back to the output I plan to do here. I swear I’ll not chill a single minute until I put all this mental clarity and a glowing complexion to good use and make a Reel and publish a bunch of Substacks.

2 - Altesse Studio. It seems little more than skin-deep, but think about how grounding and nervous-system-regulating a beauty ritual can be. I tend to ignore or decline invitations to brand PR events these days, but I recently accepted and attended more than usual. One was hosted by Altesse Studio, a French luxury brush company that’s been crafting tools meant to last forever since the 1800’s. I got to experience being dry brushed for lymphatic drainage by a massage therapist and then took a little workshop where I learned how to properly brush my hair - four quadrants, 100 strokes, morning and night, with a boar bristle brush that pulls oils from my scalp and distributes them throughout my mane making it silkier, shinier, healthier, and in need of less frequent washing. I brought both brushes to the island so I can spend several moments a day grooming myself like a house cat.
3 - Natura Bissé - That same day, I bookended my time with another multi-generation European brand that is very serious about their craft - Barcelona-based science-backed skin care Natura Bissé. I started the morning in a spa pod at the Four Seasons, getting my first pro facial in ages and then blissfully made the drive back to Beverly Hills that night for a “lab to table” themed dinner. I lost count of the courses (other than the four desserts) and the number of forks, but I can tell you it was one of the funnest, friendliest, and not at all pretentious brand events I’ve ever been to. And I love their products, especially the Diamond Cocoon Tinted Eye Cream.
4 - Frieze Week - Honestly, I’m mostly just happy the last few events resulted in decent photos of me. I let my inbox fill up with unopened Frieze Week event announcements and invitations. The only gathering I could bear that week was the Vince x Autre Dinner, where my husband would be a guest of honor, I’d get to see dear old friends who I love, and they would dress me, taking the worry of what to wear off my plate. The look I chose was a checked shirt and brown skirt, and I added my own necktie. Oh, and they had an impressively massive and weirdly beautiful plant installation by Serpentine Gallery.
5 - Attending my bestie-boo’s Brit’s lecture on the positive effects of binaural beats is more my speed, so it was a joy to be at the pre-release gathering and listening session for Evidence Based Music’s first volume, Delta. Delta waves can induce states of deepest, most restful, restorative sleep, and what better brain, body, beauty treatment is there? Vol 1 comes out this Friday, on World Sleep Day. Then you can literally stream beauty, wellness, and mental acuity right in through your headphones.
6 - Earlier that day, I was comped a treatment at FaceGym in Silver Lake, which included manual lymphatic massage and microcurrent treatment. I loved it. Skylar was my technician. Loved her. Afterward, a friend said I looked the prettiest I’d ever looked and that I looked 24. Hyperbolic, but I’ll take it.
Okay, I’m getting a warning from Dashboard that this post is too long, so I’ll come back asap to tell you about the favorite things I’ve been wearing back at home lately.
